Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I have used the old style laminate in the past and used the thin blue plastic underlayment and this underlayment was easier to handle and is quieter underfoot. I think both the underlayment and laminate has improved considerably over the years.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

Can't fill in the other fields listed above as we had a professional install our hardwood. We bought the Quiet Walk per his recommendation as well as that of the LL store staff. Our install was only completed yesterday so too early to tell how this will be on a long range basis. Right now, when we walk on the hardwood floors we don't hear any squeaks/noises of any kind so maybe the Quiet Walk is doing its job??? Our professional installer seemed to be able to handle the Quiet Walk easily and didn't express any negatives about the product to us. We installed 3 1/4" Bellawood select white oak over the Quiet Walk.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

The beauty of this underlayment is that you need nothing else to make it work. It requires no stapling or glueing. When it unrolls, it flattens out immediately and stays where you put it. The only thing you need is a straight-edge and a sharp pair of scissors or box-cutter knife.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

After a recent sewer line breakage that disrupted my home, I wasn't exactly sure what to replace the flooring with. After checking out the vast samples at Lumbers Liquidator, my final decision was to go with Dream Home - St. James (Teak) laminate flooring. It is so beautiful and the Quiet Walk Underlayment is great as a moisture bearer and has just the right thickness for padding the sound.

It took a long time for all of my order to come in. It took several weeks to get the T molding so if you have a contractor don't set-up a date until your shipment is in.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I used this underlayment for a bamboo floor that was installed in my living/dining rooms. It installed easily and quickly. It made an amazing difference with the noise (sounds like walking on lino rather than wood) and so far has made the floor feel much warmer than the tile entry or the kitchen lino.

The underlayment was so easy to install and I love that it came with a poly protection so I didnt have to mess with laying a separate material down. My floor is awesome and feels 'cushy' when I walk - which is great because we laid it over cement floors. Dare I say my room feels warmer??? Its great - cant imagine installing laminate without it.

This underlayment went down easy and effectively reduces the noise associated with laminate flooring. I used a separate moisture barrier first, to ensure good moisture protection but the product claims to have moisture management properties. It is made from recycled material so there is an added "green factor". I recommend this product with any laminate flooring installation.

I used this product on a slab floor. First I put down the plastic, then the Quiet Walk Underlayment by Dream Home and then finished the project with the American Cherry floor. It was super easy to install and looks great. I would suggest to order a little more than needed since some boards are not good too use since the color and finish can be so varied.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I recently purchased the Quiet Walk underlayment to complete a project that was started almost 2 years ago. During my original purchase I bought enough flooring to cover approx. 470Sf but during the initial purchase I chose the foam underlayment instead. The first half of the project was completed and turned out well, however, after completing the rest of the project 2 weeks ago and using the new "Quiet Walk" underlayment an immediate difference was noticed. During installation of the foam underlayment, I found tackling the project by myself could be challenging at times, however with the Quiet Walk underlayment it went down like "butter!!" After watching the video on the item (after i purchased it) it was clearly the right choice - Quiet walk with the built in vapor barrier is hands down SUPERIOR to the foam stuff. Yes, there is certainly a price difference, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for!!. As per the instructions I used duct tape to seal the butted together seams and i used some of my wifes 2.5 pound exercise weights to help hold the underlayment down and in place as i unrolled it and installed it in it's final resting place. a 7mm Laminate was installed over the underlayment (foam and "quiet walk" in both projects). The project went quickly, smoothly and yielded an end result that easily justified the price (approx. [$]/roll for "Quiet Walk"). Although I believe my renovation projects are now complete, if I ever have to tackle such a project again, "Quiet Walk" underlayment will be my FIRST and probably only choice:-)

I used the Quiet Walk Underlayment under a laminate floor. This was my first time to use the product. I was very pleased with how it helped with the "feel" of the laminate. But, I found the product very hard to cut. I broke a pair of shears and dulled 4 utility blades. That is the only problem with the underlayment, otherwise I'm glad I used the product

The person who helped me install the hardwood wanted to use pink paper instead. I love the hardwood. It looks absolutely great. I was a little disappointed with the cherry drop in vent covers. The color is way off from the floor and they have no shine to them. I am going to stain and varnish them.

All in all I am very happy!!

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I replaced a 50 year old kitchen floor with Norwegian Oak Laminate. After I figured out the best way to "snap" the boards together, it wasn't hard at all. My sister and I worked an entire Saturday laying the floor, but it was well worth it! The underlayment is great and really easy to install, and has made the floor warmer.

Worth the Money
By BobVerified Purchaser from Madison, WI on 12/5/2008
Pros:
Durable, Easy To Install, Good Value, High Quality, Sound dampening
Cons:
Dulls blades QUICKLY
Best Uses:
Multi-level Condos, Underlayment
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I used the Quiet Walk (QW) underlayment under the Ganzu Bamboo Laminate Flooring in my 3rd floor condo. The condo flooring is gypcrete, which is dirty, easily chips, and does little to dampen between unit noise.

The QW installed easily - rolled it out (blue side up), cut it with a utility knife, and taped the seams with clear packing tape. The QW does a good job of dampening the hollow sound laminiate floors make when you walk on them. Also, I noticed the QW didn't feel cold under my feet. My downstairs neighbor hasn't reported noise intrusion, so that's a big plus.

The QW is more than twice the price of the thin foam type underlayment but in my opinion, worth the price. Also, the QW dulls utility blades very quickly; I went through about 10 blades installing 550 sqft of flooring.

Summary, I recommend the QW underlayment.

Used to underlay bamboo floor.
The floor is amazingly resilient, not cold, & makes less echo than I think it would otherwise (important because I have a very loud beagle dog.)
Have had the new floors about 4 weeks. Everything I had hoped & more. Should save on my heating bills.

I installed this product under 5 mm laminate and am very happy with the way it performs. I previously installed laminate with the normal foam underlayment and found it noisy when walked on. Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

This stuff made all the difference in the world for my inexpensive laminate flooring. I had previously put down a very expensive laminate floor in a different room and used the underlayment that the vendor recommended. It didn't compare to the stuff from LL. I think the "cheap" floor has a better feel than my "expensive" floor. I wish I had used this underlayment with my first room. A good underlayment is the key to a good floor.

This was the better choice for my nail down bamboo floor, it was thick, easy to use, simple to install and does dampen noise just as it says. I used it on my entire first floor and it is great!

I originally had picked up the cheapo foam underlayment for my floors, but after seeing the difference in the thickness and durability, switched up to all felt. It was well worth the extra money.

I bought a clearance laminate, and paid nearly as much for this underlayment as the floor. But it has done an excellent job of reducing noise and flex. Used this under a floating laminate floor. Took about 10 minutes to roll it out, cut to size, tape the seams and get to work on the main part of the project. It's just 1 piece - no pad plus vapor barrier to play with - so install was a snap. It also feels like it gives some nice softness under the laminate floor. Worth the extra money over the bargain priced stuff.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

We've never had hardwood floors before so we aren't 100% sure what they are supposed to sound like when you walk on them. We do hear creaks and some noise when we walk on the floors but I guess some of that is normal. You would never be able to sneak up on someone walking on the wood floors.
My husband had absolutely no experience in laying wood floors or the underlayment and he had no trouble at all.

This was installed in a small yoga studio under a glued bamboo floor bought at [...], which was not guarnteed by the manufacturer, but it is great, and the job was done by a professional, we shall see if the floor heat works, that is next. But the quiet walk is fine.

I consider myself something of a handyman but definately no professional. This was simplicity to put down - cuts very easily with a sharp knife. The sound proofing quality is as good as it gets and this product certainly helps with floors that have uneven spots. I highly recommend it!!

Best Uses:
Engineered floating floor
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

A friend installed an engineered hardwood floating floor, also purchased at Lumber Liquidators, in my home. I decided to go ahead and spend the money for the Quiet Walk, which was a little difficult because of the price difference. But we just taped the rolls of Quiet Walk together with painters tape and turned the insulation side down for floating floors and that was it. Floor sounds like it is nailed down. It also eases the requirement for perfectly level floors a bit. I wouldn't use the cheap stuff now that I know. Get the good stuff. The floor is too expensive an investment to go cheap on the padding.

We installed Quiet Walk under a carbonized bamboo floor that was click and lock &.5" wide planks. My biggest concern was that there would be a hollow sound when we walked on it, especially since we were installing it on a slab. My concern proved to be unwarranted.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

Vapor barrier included with underlayment should help prevent water damage and at the same time the underlayment does reduce if not eliminate noise generated by the flooring. Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

All my experance with "floating floors" were not so good because they sounded like you were walking on loose plywood. They had the beauty of wood floors but not the feel! The guys at Lumber Liquidators assured me that if I spent a few extra dollars on the Quiet Walk underlayment, that it would deliver that solid feel to the floor. They were right. The underlyment did the trick. My new cherry floors are beautiful and solid sounding. I could not be more pleased.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

This is definately worth its cost! So far, we have installed it under 6mm laminate flooring on an upstairs level of our home. It truely eliminates the noise of the old subflooring creaks. It also provides a cushion feel when you walk. People are surprised that it is a comfortable floor to walk on. The only negative about it, is that it is difficult to cut with a razor knife. I suggest using scisors, but its rather thick.

By Mona LisaVerified Purchaser from Chicago, IL on 4/24/2008
Pros:
Easy To Install, Reduces Noise
Best Uses:
Hardwood Floors, Home
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I have a cement slab subfloor under my engineered wood floor and Quite Walk Underlayment helps keep my floor from feeling cold like when I had the lenoleum tile floor. I wasn't sure at first on how to install, but the instructions are very simple and clear... not much thought needed. The only noise I get from my floor is solid wood, no hollow spots or ecko. I will always use this underlayment in the future.

The only thing that might be considered a con is that the matterial it's made of makes it a little hard to cut. Though, it's a very small set back. Be patient...it's worth it!

Tip: It's more easily cut with a very sharp scissors rather than a utility knife.

Upgraded from the foam padding
By GastonVerified Purchaser from Houston, TX on 4/23/2008
Pros:
Reduces Noise
Cons:
Difficult To Install
Best Uses:
Laminate Floors
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I upgraded from foam to this material after reading comments on this site and others. People mentioned that it was a lot quieter than foam and that's what I wanted. Another added benefit is that this includes an underlayment layer on the bottom. My first impression was that it wasn't as thick as I expected, maybe even less than the foam padding. Also, it does require some very sharp scissors or knife to cut. Do yourself a favor and get some heavy duty scissors. Once I got it down, it has reduced the noise level but not a lot. It's double the cost of the foam padding but it appears to be an improvement worth paying for.

This time, I selected a better underlayment. The floor has been installed for a month now and I notice the difference. Not only does it feel better when I walk on it...it's absolutely silent. So far, so good. I suspect it will remain a good choice for years to come.

Bought some clearance flooring along with the premium underlayment (Quiet-Walk) to install in our livingroom to start. I had never done this before and had a little hesitation at first. After talking with the guys at[...], I left with a lot more confidence and the job was easier than I had first thought. The underlayment rolled out nice, the flooring went in with ease and overall, we love the feel and look from our normal carpeted floor from the past. The floor is soft to walk on and virtually no noise. The only draw back was the fact we only needed five feet from the third and last roll of underlayment for our 205sqft room but had to buy the entire 100 foot roll for it [$]. I guess we will just save it in case we decide to do more in the future.

I like how the pad has a moisture barrier built in too. Usually I have to put down a 6 mil plastic then the pad. This is a two in one and it saves me some time and money. It works well for what I use it for(floating floors). It makes it quieter than the cheap foam stuff. I did have a hard time cutting it and almost cut my finger off with a razor knife. I would recommend using good pair of scissors. Mark it with a sharpy on the blue side. I do go way out of my way to get this product but it's worth it to me.

I used the product under laminate in my whole house. It is very easy too install. I would prefer the product to be a little thicker for cushion and added noise reduction.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

I used the quiet walk on four different rooms in my house. I had a professional use a different product on my first room and it makes all kinds of creeks and plastic noises, I was not impressed. So I decided to do the installation myself next time. I used the Quiet Walk and it made a huge difference. Beside of being completely quiet the rooms are warmer and feels cozier. Thanks again Jim Gerber

We used this under engineered wood in our basement over concrete subfloor. Despite the relatively thin flooring, you would never know it was over concrete. Plus, it was very easy to install.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

Quiet Walk is an insignificant part of the installation. Overall LL experience was excellent, EXCEPT we have several boards with obvious defects. LL indicates it is our responsibility to inspect every board before it goes down, our stand is that it is LL responsibility to inspect before it goes into a box. We have NO spare and as such the installation team is purchasing an entire box to replace the poor quality boards. This is really a manufacturing/packing issue, not installation issue.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

This product was easy to install and deadens the sound tremendously over other products I have used. I installed over Concrete and it allowed me to use a Hardwood floor (Engineered) in an area that would otherwise not allow me to install Hardwood.

This is a terrific product, worth the extra investment over resin paper. I used it under the Morning Star bamboo flooring. Installs easily and serves as a great under layer and moisture barrier. Worth the $$.

Comments about Dream Home Quiet Walk Underlayment:

Quiet Walk is the best underlayment product on the market. I first used it in our second story to reduce noise when I replaced carpet with laminate. Even though it is a little more expensive it provides such a good result I have used it as underlayment on 3 more floors under both wood and laminate. It is easy to use and provides a great result. I wouldn"t use anything else.
