In retrospect, I wish we had gone for the LL installation instead of installing it ourselves. We are casual DIYers so we've successfully completed many different types of home improvement projects, but hardwood installation is a different animal altogether. I think it helps tremendously to have experience in this kind of project because there are things that come up throughout the project that require knowledge to make the right decisions. Luckily, we got two experts to help us during the first weekend and that helped a lot. But the installation took four weekends and many weeknights. Part of the reason it took so long is that the planks were only 2.25" wide, so it was very slow. We also had to deal with kithen cabinetry, lots of doorways, two closets, and uneven subloors. So we had our own set of challenges walking into it.
However, all things considered, we are very happy with the flooring. We love the way it looks, the character of the wood and the thickness makes us very happy knowing that it could potentially last a lifetime.
I would recommend this product happily, with the caveat that installation should be handled by the pros for best results and satisfaction.
Purchasing and picking up this product was easy and quick. We didn't even have to load it ourselves, which was fantastic since we got 30 boxes and they were heavy!
